One of the most popular events in the region just wrapped up this past weekend, as the Erie County Fair’s just-under two weeks came to an end. Continue reading

As the Sun Sets On Summer, A New School Year Is Ushered In
As students and teacher alike celebrate( or mourn) the end of summer, and the beginning of a new school year, it is a good time to think back, and reflect on what has happened this summer, and what shall be in the future this fall.
One Problem at a Time
Okay, folks. I realize that everyone has their own ideas for how to make Buffalo better, and oh boy, do we need to get our acts together. Some people just get an idea, form a study, and think “Hey look, my idea is going to be best for us, so let’s do it.” This is all fine and dandy, but we have way too many conflicting ideas on how to move forward, from some calling for an IKEA to be built in Buffalo (possibly on the Aud site). Others call for some more local shops, and yet others for national chains to move in, whatever it takes to help.
A Day of Caring
I was one of over 250 participants to volunteer to help out the Buffalo Sabres and United Way on their ‘Day of Caring’.
A Call to Shea’s: Better Shows Please
Okay, Shea’s, let’s be honest. Your selection of shows this year is passable, I admit, and have a few shows that I would like to go see, but nothing that truly jumps out to me as a must see show. I was in Downtown Pittsburgh yesterday headed for the Pirates game, and i passed by the Benedum Center, which, you know, is the Pittsburgh version of you. And well Shea’s, I hate to do this to you, because I love you, but the Benedum just out shined and outclassed you on the show listing.
Musings From The Van Cave Volume One
Yes, that’s my room. Some random things I’ve been thinking of under the cut.
Rebulation and O.A.R.: A Review
I have never been to an Artpark concert before until last night.
Dear NFTA, We Want More Rides
Okay, NFTA, I will start with what you do right. I love the convenience of being able to go all the way Downtown on the subway, and to Sabres/Bisons/Bandits games and other Downtown things easily. The fares aren’t THAT unreasonable to me, and the trains come at a good pace. However…
Random Thoughts, Part Two
Just a bit of random, jumbled thoughts that have little or nothing to do with each other, besides being about Buffalo
A: We should try to host the Olympics one year, either by ourselves or try to have a joint US/Canada bid, with the main city being Toronto, and putting somethings in Buffalo
B: We are really spoiled by Wegman’s, they have great customer service, and a good selection of good food
C: Trust me, the times when you crave Buffalo food is when you can’t get it, like on vacation or the like
D: The Opening Ceremony for the Olympics was AMAZING, and so were the #buffaloopeningceremony Tweets, go look them up.
E: We need to get a MLB team, preferably a NL team. If it is an AL team, we should refuse to use the DH.
F: Duff’s blue cheese and their “Hot” hot sauce is an heavenly combination, and is also great to dip your fries into.
G: Take the time to go to downtown, and go to the Central Library, it is well worth your visit, great selection of materials and well organized.
H: Ott is going to be really, really good for the Sabres. We just need to hope he doesn’t turn into a reawakening of the last number 9 for the Sabres.
I: Get yourself to the Zoo, and enjoy the outside, because of all this weather we’ve been having, enjoy it while you can.
J: Go to Ted’s, great place as I am sure you all know, and I’ll be doing a full Ted’s post at some point soon
K: Get yourself down to a Bisons game. Nice, cheap baseball games, and get to see our stars, before the Mets stea…err call them up and they do great, like Matt Harvey.
L: Get yourself to Bills training camp in Rochester, and enjoy the sights of football season.
And, for fun, I think I’ll stop at L, and end this with a nice Let’s Go Buffalo.
Conservation, Not Preservation
Okay folks, let us start off with some simple definitions, and then proceed to talk about what the hell this has to do with the Queen City. Continue reading
